Betty Montgomery has been a proud resident of Spartanburg County for more than five decades. She first came to the area at 18 to attend Converse College and quickly knew this was where she wanted to build her life. 

Today, Betty lives in Campobello, where she stays closely connected to the land and the values that define the upper part of our county. Alongside her late husband, Walter, she built a life rooted in hard work, stewardship, and service. ​

Together, they raised cattle and cultivated a seven-acre garden, opening it each year to share with the community.

Betty’s life has been shaped by the same principles that guide her today: 
personal responsibility, strong values, and a commitment to serving others. ​

She has spent years investing in her community and understands firsthand the challenges facing District 5 — from growth and infrastructure to protecting rural character. ​

Betty Montgomery is running for County Council to ensure that the people of District 5 have leadership that listens, understands, and puts their priorities first.
